Ok, here's the deal on that. I've worked in autobody
for quite a while. You can buy adhesive remover,
which, if allowed to soak, will make the decal
begin to peel. I would recommend letting is soak
overnight. You can buy it at autobody supply stores
and the stuff I have is made by 3M. I've heard
that kerosene will work as well, but I'm not sure
if the paint will stand up to Kerosene. It also
depends on if your bike was painted single-stage
or basecoat/clearcoat. Like I said, the adhesive
remover should work for you. I also have the
mystery look for my Savage. The only way to figure
out what kind of bike it is is to read the manufacture decal, or to read
the stamp near the cooling fins.
